Muskrat Love
After the Festival Showcase this evening, a few of us wandered over to Bud Miller All Seasons Park to check out the Secret Moonlight Fantasy Lagoon. We were hoping to espy one of the local muskrats camped out on one of the lily pads.
Alas, it was not to be. We did see a muskrat swimming in the lagoon but it went right past the art display and headed under the bridge for open water (the lake).
The displays are solar powered and will glow in the dark-- unfortunately it is only a few days away from the longest day of the year so even at 10pm it will still too light out for the light show. Even in daylight, it is pretty cool:

ArtWalk illuminates the Art all around us
Spent the early part of the afternoon wandering around downtown Lloydminster checking out the ArtWalk. ArtWalk organizer Dawn Hames added an architectural element to this year's walk by listing a few buildings that are of architectural interest.
This addition is proving to be a surprise to some of our residents. I was standing on the corner of 50th and 50th taking a picture of the old post office, now home to Ernie's Coffee House, when some people I know asked me what I was photographing. When I explained that I was taking pictures of some of the interesting architectural features of downtown Lloydminster, their first reaction was: "Lloydminster has interesting architecture?"
It's there if you just look. Like the old May Theatre building here:

Lloyd Reads was "Good to a Fault"
Yesterday was the start of the Festival and things got off to a great start.
After helping with the setup for Lloydminster Reads I wandered over to the Black Box Theatre and took my first look at the Juried Show. Wow.
Lloydminster Reads was a wonderful evening. Marina Endicott added dimension to my reading of her novel Good to a Fault by revealing the story behind many of the events and characters that appear. We, the audience, also added dimension to Marina's understanding of her own work with our thoughts and impressions.
Denise & Leslie-Anne did a great job.

Festival 2009 ready to go!
We're back!
After months of planning and some creative financing (thanks to the worldwide economic implosion), the 3rd Annual Arts Without Borders Festival is ready to roll.
The Festival is scheduled for June 11-14, 2009 in sunny (we hope) Lloydminster.
We hope all fans of the arts in Lloydminster and area come out and support this great event.
